This recipe doesn’t use Brandy or flour. It’s heavy and rich, best served with steamed vegetables and rice. Use gluten free Worcestershire sauce to make this a gluten free dish.

Ingredients

  • beef, scotch fillet or sirloin, cut into long, thin strips
  • button mushrooms, quartered
  • onion, sliced
  • butter
  • olive oil
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • tomato paste
  • worcestershire sauce (gluten free)
  • labna or sour cream
  • fresh parsley, chopped

  • Fry the beef strips in batches until cooked.
  • Return everything to the pan.
  • Add the beef stock, bay leaves, a dollop of tomato paste, a big dash of Worcestershire sauce and the paprika. Season with salt and pepper.

  • Garnish with chopped parsley.

Serve with steamed vegetables and rice.

I’ve made this with chicken stock and it’s just as nice.
